In New Zealand, children can start school from the day they turn five. All children must be enrolled at school by their sixth birthday.
In-Zone Enrolment
If you have an in-zone child who you wish to attend Oratia School, please contact the school (09 818 6216) to have their name put onto our pre-enrollment list. Enrolling early helps us in planning for the number of children that will be attending.
Please call in to the school office 4-6 weeks out from your child turning 5 to collect an enrolment pack. The following original documentation will need to be provided along with the completed forms in the pack:
Your child’s Birth Certificate
Your child’s Passport and current Visa (if they were not born in New Zealand)
Parents Passport and current Visas (if your child was not born in New Zealand)
Sale and Purchase Agreement or Tenancy agreement
We encourage you to participate in up to three organised pre-school visits to our new entrant class to help settle your child into their new environment. These visits happen on a Tuesday and Thursday morning. Enrolment forms must be completed before your child can take part in these visits. Please remember that it is a legal requirement for children to be accompanied by an adult caregiver for the duration of each visit. We ask that you do not bring other pre-schoolers to these visits.
Parents or caregivers will be invited to attend an informal meeting with our Senior Management team during one of these school visits which is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about our school.
