It’s our people who make the difference
Our caring community of teachers and support staff arrive each day ready to make a difference in the lives of Oratia District School students. We are supported in our work by an involved parent community and a wider network of sponsors and local residents who share our commitment to our school.
Coming from a variety of backgrounds, our staff are united by a passion for education and helping children reach their potential. Click here to meet our staff.
The Oratia District School Board of Trustees is elected every three years by parents and staff. It is comprised of the school principal, five trustees elected by the parent community and one trustee elected by the school staff. The board can also co-opt additional trustees. At Oratia District School we have a very active Parent Network (formerly known as the PTA), which supports the Board of Trustees and the school in a variety of ways. Click here to find out more about our Parent Network.
The community surrounding our school is varied and diverse. Our teachers make good use of all the links within our community to help make learning as contextual and interesting as possible. This includes visiting the Oratia Folk Museum, a historical home in Oratia, the Hoani Waititi Marae at Parrs Park, the retirement village on Glengarry Road, Bella Rakha, the Piha wetlands restoration project, the Arataki Visitors’ Centre, local orchards and the Oratia Stream.
