Since the start of 2015 we have trialed the impact of innovative learning environments on student achievements. Four teachers proposed to run their classes in a way which allowed them to focus intently on teaching the curriculum in the broader context of the Key Competencies. The classes – Rooms 6 and 7 and Rooms 10 and 11 also incorporated digital technologies to a greater extent where possible.
Throughout 2015 these teachers collected evidence of how this way of working impacted on their students’ learning and achievement. They presented reports to the Board of Trustees at mid-year and at the end of the year. The final report in December was an evaluation of the approach as at the end of 2015. The results were encouraging and we will continue to run the trial in the same classes with 3 new teachers under the guidance of Miss Carys Taylor, our Innovative Learning Environments (ILE) lead teacher..
