Introductory Letter
Dear Parents, Welcome to Year5! We hope your child has enjoyed their first day in Room 19 and is looking forward to a great year. We are!
Some useful information for you: Your child has 2 teachers this year. Mrs Cornwell will teach all day Monday, Tuesday and 9-12 Wednesday. Mrs Brown will teach 12-3 Wednesday, all day Thursday and Friday. Library day is Wednesday. Swimming days are Tuesday and Friday. Spelling notebooks must be at school on Monday for a new list and on Friday for testing (with 3 parent signatures please). French lessons with Madam Moncur will happen twice a week: Wednesday and Friday from 9-9.30. We have a class page on our school website www.oratia.school.nzPlease visit it as we update it regularly with class activities, children’s work and photos. Our class calendar and timetable also appear on our page.
As a class we have discussed the expectations of the students in Room 19. There are some ways you can assist your child to meet these expectations.v Encourage your child to learn their spelling, read for fifteen minutes and learn basic facts every night.v Email us (email addresses below) explaining absences, unfinished homework, your child being excused from swimming, questions, queries etc. We find email a great way to keep in contact.v Keep in touch with us about any concerns that you may have regarding your child.v Ask them about “The 5 C’s” and our class motto.Please don’t hesitate to contact us about any further questions you may have or other information you require.Kind Regards, Mrs Brown (Debbie) Mrs Cornwell (Jo) debbieb@oratia.school.nz joannec@oratia.school.nz
