Room Ten's Home Activities
In Room 10 we have 3 activities for home work each week.
The first is to read - either a book we have brought home from school or one we have at home. Remind us to record it in our green book so we can get stickers and certificates.
The second is basic facts. These come home in our home activities book. We can use this book to write them or any other activities in. These are quick maths problems that we are practising to become really fast at. For it to become a basic fact we have to know the answer in less than 4 seconds. They help us to solve bigger maths problems using more complicated strategies.
A good practice site is www.ixl.com/math/
You can practice up to 20 sums each day for free.
Lastly we have spelling words to practice. These come home in our notebook and we practice them by writing them, saying them, using them in sentences or going onto Spelling City. On Spelling City all of our spelling words are loaded each week, along with heaps of cool games and activities. It can even test us!!!
It is really helpful for us to bring our reading log, home activities book and spelling notebook to school on Friday so we can get points for our groups and Mrs Beaumont can give out stickers and see what we have been practising!!!
