Activities on offer at Oratia District School
Each lunchtime there are a range of activities on offer for children who attend Oratia District School. These activities consist of cultural, eco and sporting endeavours. Children are welcome to sign up and try out for these activities and it gives them an opportunity to develop a range of different skills and maybe even discovere a unique talent. We would like you to encourage your child to give it a go and participate in one of the many activities on offer. We have listed these activities here.
Cultural
Kapa Haka for junior and senior children - Mrs. Wadsworth and Whaia Simpson.
Languages: Francais - Madame Moncour
Te Reo Maori - Whaia Simpson
Music: Drums (West Auckland Music Education Centre), Guitar (Glynis Renata), Piano (Larissa McPhearson), Ukelele, Boys Choir (Nick Gill) and Choir (Nick Gill), Woodwind and Brass instruments (KBB Music).
Eco
Enviro Club and Gardeners - Mrs Thomas, Mrs Wadsworth, Mrs Wills and many parents.
Sport
Flippaball - Jo Cornwell (Terms 1, 2 and 4), Swimming - all class teachers (Term 1), Netball - parent volunteer coaches, Rugby - Ms Swanepoel, Soccer - Mr Gill and Mrs Cornwell, Hockey - Mrs Brown and Jump Jam - Mrs Bartlett and Miss Dellow.

We also offer opportunities for children who have special abilities in the areas of art, information and commmunications technologies and strategic thinking to be extended.
Our groups are currently involved in:
a film making project, creating art panels to be displayed outside classrooms, and solving a problem to improve one aspect of our school.
